In a private ceremony held in Patna, former Bihar Chief Secretary Amir Subhani, aged 60, has entered into his second marriage. The event, which took place earlier this week, was marked by a reception at Hotel Patliputra Continental in Anisabad, attended by close family and friends.

This union comes three years after the tragic passing of his first wife, Dr Sadika Yasmin, who died in 2022 following an accidental fall. The couple had two children, a son and a daughter, who reportedly gave their consent for their father’s remarriage.

Amir Subhani, a native of Bahuara village in Siwan district, Bihar, has had a distinguished career in public service. He topped the UPSC Civil Services Examination in 1987 and has held various significant positions, including District Magistrate of Bhojpur and Patna, as well as Home Secretary of Bihar. In January 2022, he made history by becoming the first individual from a minority community to serve as Bihar’s Chief Secretary, a role he fulfilled until his retirement in March 2024. Post-retirement, he was appointed as the Chairman of the Bihar Electricity Regulatory Commission.

Known for his clean image and administrative acumen, Subhani’s decision to remarry has been met with support from his family and close associates. The intimate nature of the ceremony reflects his preference for privacy in personal matters.
